Android Things is a platform for building powerful and secure devices for the Internet of Things. In this workshop, you will learn everything you need to know about developing IoT applications on Android Things. Using Android Studio and a developer kit, you will see how easy it is to use the Android platform to interact with hardware in the real world, and integrate powerful libraries like TensorFlow to perform complex computing at the edge.

Mike Procopio is a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Google. He's passionate about using machine intelligence to create impactful user experiences. Mike holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Colorado, where he studied Machine Learning and Autonomous Robot Navigation. When not working on ML-like things, Mike can be found running along the trails near his home in Boulder, Colorado.
Ali’s career launched in the early days of web development, conquering the challenges of the browser wars and notepad editors. Joining Real Education in late 90s as a Quality Engineer her career skills expanded as the company developed more products for the online education space. When Pearson acquired eCollege she directed large enterprise integration projects. Working with teams across the globe to build the next generation of MyLabs. In 2016, she joined Apigee to help build a new office presence in Denver and lead an engineering team. When Google acquired Apigee in that same year the opportunity to impact good engineering and build cool software suddenly scaled, and she’s been having a blast ever since.
Bob has been programming and working in tech since learning BASIC on a TRS-80 in high school! A graduate of Carnegie-Mellon, he spent some years in Boston before discovering Boulder, realizing what a smiling happy place it is, he came out here and has never looked back.
At Google Boulder for almost 11 years, was one of the original team members on Google Drive (web front end), and now leads a team working on Google Search mobile clients (android/ios).
Registration for the event will begin at 10am and close at 11:30am allowing time for check-in and networking. The program will begin promptly at 10:40pm.
Check-in will be located at 2600 Pearl Street. At check-in, you will receive your badge, event information, and swag. Make sure to wear your badge throughout the day. Due to limited capacity, only registered, confirmed guests will be guaranteed admission. Registration will stay open until May 4th at 5pm MDT.
